JCB Tourism Solutions was delighted to work with Port of Tyne to meet and greet cruise passengers arriving on transit calls in 2019. Sadly COVID-19 meant no cruise passengers arrived in 2020 however we hope to welcome passengers back in 2021.
Passengers will experience a day out in the region either travelling independently or choosing a shore excursion from a range of choices each offering a fantastic experience in the region.
We have a team of dedicated and knowledgeable volunteers available either on the quay or, if requested, on board the ship to meet and greet the passengers on arrival and to assist with any enquiries visitors have on excursions, destinations, onwards travel, local services and itinerary suggestions.
Buses depart from the quay to various destinations across the region including NewcastleGateshead, Durham City and Cathedral, Alnwick Castle and Gardens and Hadrian’s Wall. We are on hand to provide further information on destinations including maps and guides.
Port of Tyne provides a complementary bus to/from Tynemouth Metro Station and visitors have the choice of exploring Tynemouth and the picturesque North Tyneside coast or travelling up to Newcastle city centre, Durham and Wallsend (for Segedunum Roman Fort). The team will offer advice on travel arrangements and what to see and do in destinations.
